This falls into the “who knew” category and is just to help others realize this functionality as well. Yesterday, I was working on a feature for my personal blog — Where I Have Lived – Signs of a Life — and wanted to include a map function to show precisely, or at least close to, where I lived. I added fields for latitude and longitude as well as address. I initially set the map to use the city, state, and country as the source for the map, and it seemed to work very well. The pins were way off a couple of times, and I was just about to google the lat/long, but when I clicked on the map and placed the pin in the correct location. To my surprise and joy, the pin placement was stored, and they are precisely where they should be. I do not know if the Google Map option works the same way, but the Open Street Map, which is my preference, works perfectly. I suspect this saved me at least an hour of searching for the correct latitude and longitude.

Update – This is the Geolocation feature, and it supports both Google Maps and Open Street Maps.
