The latest episode extends the topic on spacing, but Kevin felt that this was such an important topic that it needed to be separated from the core spacing video. Honestly, I suspect it was more an effort to not overwhelm people with all that is possible and put it in a more digestible and easy-to-reference separate video.

What is Smart Spacing

As the name implies, smart spacing is intelligent space between elements — headings, paragraphs, lists, and more. And since it is in Automatic CSS, it takes place automatically, but as you would have seen in episode 4, you have complete control. As far as I know, and according to Kevin, ACSS is currently the only framework that does this. While I suspect others may have it built in, I don’t think any of them give you the control, and certainly, none of them offer a UI to dial in those adjustments.
