I have been a little remiss in recapping the ACSS 101 series, but I got caught up today, and all I can say is thank you. I have had ACSS for a long time, and while I understood that it was a framework, I never realized how much thought was put into it and how much power is at your disposal.
If you are like me and occasionally don’t follow a series in order, these videos build on each other, so I do not recommend taking that approach.
Color fundamentals
The three episodes that make up episodes 6 and 7 (two parts) focused on the fundamentals of choosing colors and how to think about how they should be used. Episode 7 was broken into two parts to focus on the basic scheme creation in part 1 and a more automatic approach using contextual settings. The latter was really eye-opening.
Dark and Light Schemes
Episode 8 was another aha moment for me as Kevin focused on creating a light and dark scheme to support users who prefer one or the other or have their computer set to dark mode or light mode. It turns out ACSS makes this ridiculously easy to manage.
While I love these episodes and learning how powerful ACSS is, it is going to cost me a lot of time as I go back and fix my egregious, chump-like behavior. Based on what I have learned, this site will be getting another refresh, as will a broad range of projects that are currently in the works in the full-time job. Fortunately, we were just getting started with a transition to Bricks Builder on a few of the main sites, so I am excited to set a new baseline.
If you want to buy ACSS, I invite you to use my affiliate link. Whether you use the link or not is up to you, but if you are using Bricks, I highly recommend it.
